Demand for beer defies forecasts!
Breweries are working around the clock after it was reported this week that demand for beer since pubs reopened has been far higher than anticipated. With 10m adults in England heading back to their local since outdoor hospitality reopened, Heineken UK has been forced to limit pubs to three kegs a week of Birra Moretti due to supply issues. Budweiser Brewing Group (UK&I) said they had invested more than £115m into its breweries this year to make 630m more pints!
Sirieix to the rescue!
Hospitality charity Only A Pavement Away (OAPA) is partnering with First Dates host Fred Sirieix to launch a new charity campaign aimed at helping ex-offenders into hospitality jobs. As part of the initiative, OAPA is calling on employers in the industry to get involved and pledge funds to refit prison kitchens for training to take place, with Argentinian Steak House, Gaucho, just one of the restaurants who have signed up to the project.
The 10 best pubs in Wales with an outdoor space
This week (26 April) saw Welsh pubs reopen their outdoor areas, serving up all the best food and drink the country has to offer. And with Wales a holiday hotspot this year, we were very pleased to read and take note of its top 10 pubs with outdoor space.
Out with the ‘old’ at St Andrews
St Andrews’ Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa is undergoing a multimillion-pound renovation which will see the introduction of a penthouse, new guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, and event spaces at the five-red-AA-starred property. Set for completion in July 2021 ahead of the Open in 2022, which will be held on the Old Course, the renovations will see the bedroom count grow from 144 to 175 with the addition of a third floor in the Champions Wing.
